Gifts for the Groom

Just like close friends and family of the bride, it’s going to be a hard task to find gifts for the groom alone. The newly married couple will be receiving plenty of new gifts to solidify their union and merge their homes. However, people like to give them individual gifts as well.

A New Watch:

Chances are, the groom spent a large amount of money on upgrading the bride’s jewelry collection with her engagement ring. So why not help him upgrade his own jewelry collection with a new watch, after all, a man can never have too many.

Engraved Cufflinks:

Most of the times, a tux is accompanied by cheap plastic cufflinks or studs, neither of them befitting a stylish groom. Upgrade the grooms tux by giving him a great pair of cufflinks so that he can properly escort his new bride.

At Home Poker Set:

Not everyone can afford to jet set out to the nearest gambling powerhouses when they feel the need to spend time and gamble with friends. So do the groom a favor and get him an at home poker set so he can get together with friends while still staying close to home with his new bride.

New PJ’s:

Why should the bride be the only one oozing sex appeal on their wedding night?Help the groom look his best with a new pair of pajama’s so that the bride has just as much to feast her eyes upon during the honeymoon.

Grooming Kit:

The groom is a grown man now, help him remember that by giving him a grooming kit so that he can remember to take care of himself. Looking good for the bride should be priority more than just on their wedding day and honeymoon.

Happy Shopping. ENJOY!!!

Gifts for the Bride

Giving the Bride gifts can be a hard task for those closest to her. It can be hard to differentiate between things the newlyweds may need as a couple and the things that will relieve that Brides stress after the big day is all over. There a few simple things to remember when doing your shopping and you’ll be on your way to the perfect gift in no time.

Digital Camera:

During their Honeymoon the bride and groom are going to visit many beautiful destinations and will want to remember their first days as a married couple for their entire lives. What better way to remember these moments then by having a sleek camera to snap shots with while these two love birds are on the go!

Gift Certificates:

There’s no better gift then a gift certificate, this way you can assure that the bride gets exactly what she wants and you will know she’s happy with it. You can fund things like a trip to her favorite department store or clothing boutique. Giving certificates to a spa is also a great idea, but with the honeymoon and all of the pre-wedding festivities your bride may want something more than to be pampered.

Personalized Goods:

If the bride is indeed changing her name, she will enjoy getting items that reflect her new initials. Most registries don’t feature items that are personalized so if you do purchase both the bride and groom personalized gifts they will be unique.

Honeymoon Gifts:

If you know where the bride will be jetting off to after the wedding it will be great to get her items that are a necessity for the location. You can even include pointers on must see places while she is away. More than likely she’s been so stressed out about planning her wedding that she hasn’t had much time to plan for the trip afterward.

Honeymoon Lingerie:

Every bride can use some new lingerie, especially for the honeymoon. If you’re not exactly sure about what to get her bring someone along that will know , maybe her future husband? If your shy you can opt for a conservative lingerie option that will still be a big hit on the wedding night.

Happy Shopping. ENJOY!!!

Winter Wonderland Decor

Winter Wonderland wedding are very common around this time of year in the colder regions of the world. However, properly executing these weddings is not always as easy as it seems. Following a few simple steps will assure that your big day will be all that you hoped for.

What to wear?

Select a pure white gown perhaps with a white faux fur trim. Gold or silver beading would also look nice and reflect the light as you walk down the aisle. If the wedding dress you choose is simple and form-fitting, consider wearing a white, hooded cloak with white faux fur trim and carrying a white fur muff, rather than a bouquet.A gold or silver dress would also look stunning. Wear a gold or silver tiara instead of a headpiece and veil.Rather than black, select a white tuxedo with a gold or silver-colored vest and bow tie.Simple white gowns with gold or silver trim or beading. A straight cloak with white faux fur trim, or ones that are edged in gold or silver trim.Shimmering gold or silver dresses would also provide a lovely contrast to the bride’s pure white dress and is in keeping with this winter wonderland wedding theme.

It’s the decor that sets the proper theme setting when it comes to winter wonderland wedding ideas. Here are some suggestions to transform your reception:

  • Get some large, willow branches if possible (if you can’t find these then use regular tree branches). Spray paint all the branches white. Then lightly spray paint some branches with gold glitter paint and some with silver glitter paint. Set the branches in buckets filled with sand or gravel. Cover the outside of the buckets with shimmering gold and silver-colored fabric, gathered up near the rim and secure with a length of white ribbon and a beautiful bow. String small, twinkling lights throughout the branches and place the “trees” throughout the room.
  • Make or buy various sizes of white and silver snowflakes. Hang from the ceiling.
  • Cover tables in a white tablecloth. Add smaller accent cloths of gold and silver. Another thing you can do is leave the white tablecloth as is and sprinkle some gold and silver confetti around the center of the table.
  • For the budget-minded couple, create balloon bouquets of silver, white and gold balloons. Use white curly ribbon to tie the balloons together, leaving streamers of ribbon hanging down. Secure the bouquets to some sort of weight (such as tying it to bricks sprayed white, gold or silver or covered in cloth).

For most of your winter wedding reception centerpieces and decor, stick with a pure white and then add in a few enhancements of silver or gold.

  • Buy plain wicker baskets and spray paint some baskets in white, some in gold and some in silver. Tie a large bow to the handle or glue a length of ribbon around the basked and glue a bow on one side. Fill with gold, white and silver Christmas balls. You could follow the same basic idea, except use clear glass bowls instead of baskets, so the balls show through.
  • Use a small glass bowl and fill with glass beads or white gel beads. Set a several small votive or pillar candles into the bowl nestled within the beads.
  • Use elegant white flowers arranged in a simple white vase. Tie gold and silver ribbons around the neck allowing the streamers to hang down. You may also wish to have the flower tips dipped in a gold and silver dye.
  • Place a mirror in the center of the table and arrange 3 wine glasses of different heights on the mirror. Fill with water and float a white flower in each. Sprinkle some glitter over the mirror and arrange some votive candles underneath the glasses.

Winter Wonderland Wedding Favors:

  • Purchase white Christmas balls. Using glitter paint, write your names on the balls with your wedding date. Glue a small silver or gold bow to the top. This will make a nice remembrance for your guests to hang on their own Christmas trees each year.
  • Take two square pieces of gold or silver colored material and sew together, leaving a small opening at the top. Fill with potpourri and sew opening closed. Add lace, ribbon or other trim to decorate the sachet.
  • Cut a circle of white tulle and fill with candies, chocolate kisses, mints or nuts. Gather the tulle up and secure with silver or gold ribbon.
  • Tie two beeswax candles together with ribbon. Add a small spray of baby’s breath or a flower slipped under the ribbon.

What would a winter wonderland wedding be without an all white cake?

A Bouquet or Substitute:

  • Carry a single white candle with gold and silver ribbon tied around the middle.
  • Use a fur muff.
  • Carry an all white bouquet with accents of gold and silver bouquet jewelry.
  • Carry a single white rose with gold and silver streamers tied to the stem.

Country/Farmhouse Weddings

When most couples think of a romantic, beautiful setting, they don’t typically imagine a barn. Tastefully decorated, however, a barn can be a great venue for a memorable wedding. There are many types of barn buildings to choose from in different sizes and shapes. Some barns are specially built to host wedding receptions, dances, parties, and other events, while others can be easily decorated for the perfect day.

Aside from a great place to host the reception party, barns make for great photographic backdrops. To ensure that the barn appears an asset in your photographs rather than an eyesore, make sure that it is well cleaned, repaired and painted, if need be, and decorated to suit the occasion. Make sure the grass around the barn is freshly cut and all debris removed.

Nothing says country farmhouse more than a bale of hay. While hay bale seating for guests might be a little to much , forming an alter out of hay is perfect to set off your decor, rustic and, if draped with silk or ribbons, can be simply elegant. Either attach hay to an altar that’s already standing, or order a custom-made frame, as long as you have the time and funds to do so.

Instead of dressing the wedding party up like bad country table linens, consider using western embellishments to match the theme. Leather cowboy boots, bridesmaids in shirt dresses with large belts, cowboy hats on all the groomsmen and officiant, and horseshoe brooches or lapel pins all help match the scene while allowing the party to look sharp.

The food should be modern versions of country classics, such as miniature apple pies with gourmet ice cream, vegetable soup served in carved-out pumpkins, egg and ham canapés, fresh vegetable salad, corn, whole grains, apples and carrot cakes. The wedding cake, however, should be traditional: white tiers with autumn-colored floral accents and either a rich chocolate or light almond interior. However, this aspect is totally up to you because not every one enjoys the same types of foods.

In all planning a country themed wedding is not as intricate as it seems, you just have to make sure you are willing to invest time into planning it perfectly. Enjoy!!!

Etiquette ~ requesting monetary gifts instead of toasters.

Asking for money from your guests is definitely an uneasy task for many couples. However, many of these couples prefer to receive cash over the everyday household item that they may already possess. So how do you do this without being completely rude to your guests or making them feel that they absolutely have to get you a gift? That is exactly the question we’re here to answer.

The easiest way to ask your guests for money is to have your close family and friends put the word out for you. No this does not mean that you will have your parents and your bridal party walking around the reception with a collection hat. This just simply means that you should express these feelings of wanting cash instead of gifts to them, this way when someone asks them what to get you they can express your feelings to that particular guest. This gives you guests the option to decide whether they will follow through with your wishes and give you cash or buy  you a traditional gift.

Though word of mouth this an effective tool in spreading the word it may also be effective to express your feelings to your guests. How? Use your wedding website to its fullest extent, instead of adding a link to a  gift registry in the “registry” portion of your site you can ask your guests to help contribute money towards a home, car, or even your honeymoon. And of course no one wants to come off as completely vulgar when asking for money from their guests so you can get creative and say it through a poem:

“If you were thinking of giving a gift, to help us on our way.

A gift of cash towards our house, would really make our day.

However, if you prefer to purchase a gift, feel free to surprise us in your own way.”

If you still feel a little wary about asking for hard cash it’s ok, I know of some other ways to ask. You could incorporate a wedding wishing well into your reception space, this allows your guests to give you money without handing you a wad of cash in your hand. However, for your wishing well to be successful the word should have been spread that this wishing well would be present at the reception. Of course your wishing well would also require some form of creativity. This will mean that it should be decorated to match your entire wedding decor, but it should NOT have a sign next to it that says ” cash here please” , a poem would also be great for you wishing well.

More than just kisses so far we’ve shared,

Our home has been made with Love and Care,

Most things we need we’ve already got,

And in our home we can’t fit a lot!

A wishing well we thought would be great,

(But only if you wish to participate),

A gift of money is placed in the well,

Then make a wish …. but shhh don’t tell!

Once we’ve replaced the old with the new,

We can look back and say it was thanks to you!

And in return for your kindness, we’re sure

That one day soon you will get what you wished for.

Though some guests may love your approach and may be more than willing to fund your new beginnings some guests may remain wary of handing over cold hard cash. For the comfort of these guests there are sites that will allow you to register for cash, yes that’s right you can register for cash, How Perfect! On these sites you can register for cash and your guests can choose to give you whatever amount they would like, the check is usually sent out on or after the wedding day. You can also find banks like suntrust that have bridal registry and your guests can go on the site and contribute to a down payment on a new house for the two of you. There are also many sites that will allow your guests to do similar things while also leaving the option for a traditional gift open to them.

Uncomfortable doesn’t have to mean stressful, so remember the best way to ask your guests is to just be honest, it is up to them to get you two a gift or to hand you cash. Either way I’m sure you’d greatly appreciate both, or at least you should.

ENJOY!!!

Wedding Gifts ~ Charitable Donations

Deciding where you should register takes a lot of time and effort and can be stressful at times, However it doesn’t always have to be so labor intensive. If you’re a couple that has already began sharing a home together, then you already have a toaster, blender , and plenty of other household items that you two already own. So what do you register for if you already have everything? How about a charitable donation ?

Yes it may sound strange to some people, but think about it, instead of just asking for a new comforter set that you don’t need or set of pricey china that you’ll never use you can ask your guests to donate to a charity of your choice. A strange concept to some is now becoming the “norm” in the modern wedding society. But some aren’t quit sure how to ask such a thing of their guests without being too presumptuous.

It’s fairly simple actually, instead of going to register at your favorite department store there are sites that you can register for that have a list of charities that they cater to(Idofoundation.org) . Once you’ve registered and chosen a charity or a list of charities you can then provide the link to the page on your wedding website in place of an actual gift registry. If you have guests that are not too keen to the idea of donating in your name then you should also leave it open for them to buy a gift if they must. Charitable donations over gifts is a great way for you two as a couple to symbolize your love for one another while sharing it with any given charity or special cause.

If you would like more information on the specific charities you can choose from or in what ways your donations will help any given charity you should get in direct contact with this charity, especially if you feel you’d like to donate more than money.

As always keep giving in the memory and thoughts of others.

The sweetest wedding favors you can give your guests.

Looking for favors to give your guests? Ones that will not end up collecting dust or end up in the trash shortly after the wedding?

Try candy! If your like most of us, you have a sweet tooth and you like to cater to its wants every now and again. Giving your guests candy favors is the perfect way to make sure that they not only remember your wedding day but they actually enjoy the favors they have been given. Here are some of the best ideas for candy-themed favors ( most of them are DIY, if you like to save money , thats also a plus).

The Famous candy buffet will always be the best way to give your guests a tasty treat to remember your wedding by. This is probably the easiest way to assure that your guests will get exactly what they want out of your favors. Fill the buffet with the most popular candies of the time or your own personal favorites. Top the buffet off with beautiful bags either designed with your names and the date of your wedding or a special message for all of your guests.

Something like a candy buffet, these lollipop trees are a clever way to hold and present your lollipop favors to your guests. These trees can be simply hand made or they can be purchased. You can make this idea your own by adding special designs top the trees themselves as well as picking specific lollipop flavors and adding tags and/or labels to each and every lollipop. Again, the labels can either feature the couples names and the date of the wedding or it can feature a special message for the guests. This is an idea that you can include your entire bridal party in on, each person can design a tree and choose the flavors that will go on their tree.

These clear candy boxes are probably one of the easiest ways to offer sweet treats to your guests. The type of clear containers you choose to house your candies are up to you, choose an assortment of shapes or go with one uniform design. Like all of the other candy options what type of candies you choose is up to you. Fill the clear box, wrap a wide piece of ribbon on the center or one end of the box , and then wrap a smaller ribbon around that one for an extra pop of color. These type’s of boxes don’t always require labels but ofcourse if you would like to include a label you are always welcome to do so.

Personalized candy bars are always fun, though they may require custom online orders it is still an option for you to consider. The wrappers for your candy bars can include things like the pictures from your engagement photo session if you had one. They can also include old family photos from when the two of you were growing up ( at least your guests can take home a few laughs).Though this option is probably the most expensive of the listed options it still promises loads of sweet memories for all of your guests.

ENJOY!!!
